Kearney's mission is to provide state-of-the-science research and educational programs to promote sustainability of California's $24.5 billion agriculture industry, and to enhance the quality of the rural environment. KARE facilitates anywhere from 70-100 research projects every year. These projects are vetted by the Research Advisory Committee which reviews project proposals based upon their scientific merit.
The primary role of the RAC is to review proposed research and extension projects
Research rates for facility usage are calculated and approved on an annual basis
An annual call for proposals is announced through the ANR Report and on the UC ANR Portal. Off-cycle announcements are made through the same network. Some Centers also have mailing lists and newsletters and offer announcements through those media.
Proposals are required to be submitted by the Project Leader (Project Principal Investigator).
Proposal submission to this research center requires an account. This account will be used to complete the proposal submission forms and allow access to monthly budget reports, continuing project information and progress reporting.
